My wife, Jean, and I live in Troy. In September, 2013, I opened Schramm's Mead in Ferndale. The meads are pretty popular, and business is great. I worked in television/media production and management from the time I graduated from Eastern in '81 until a couple of years ago, when I moved full time to the meadery. In 2003, Brewers Publications published "The Compleat Meadmaker," a book I wrote on mead (honey wine). It has sold reasonably well.

I like to fly fish, and have a bunch of fruit trees in my yard. It's a lot of work, but the fruit and the wines I make from them are great.
